Long-Term Teaching

What is classified as long-term?

A long-term teaching position is an assignment which lasts for one academic term or more. In the UK there are three academic terms:

Autumn (Fall) Term (starts September): Generally, most schools do not identify their staffing needs to us for the September term until after the summer half-term break, and resignation deadlines have passed (end May).  Placement can occur any time from after Easter through to the last few days of term (3rd week in July), though we do find the months of June and July the busiest in terms of placement.

Spring Term (starts January): Generally, most schools do not identify their staffing needs to us for the January term until after the autumn half-term break, and resignation deadlines have passed (end October).  Placement can occur any time from September through to the last few days of term (just before Christmas), though we do find the months of November and December the busiest in terms of placement.

Summer Term (starts April): Generally, most schools do not identify their staffing needs to us for the April term until after the spring half-term break, and resignation deadlines have passed (mid February).  Placement can occur any time from January through to the last few days of term (just before Easter), though we do find the months of February and March the busiest in terms of placement.
